Actor Park Jin-young, formerly of group GOT7, has chosen Channel A‘s new drama ‘The Witch’ as his first comeback project since his military service.

He plays the role of Dong-jin in the drama ‘The Witch’, which will first air on February 15th.

‘The Witch’ is a mystery romance about Dong-jin, a man who tries to break the laws of bad luck surrounding women called witches, and Mi-jung, a woman who has isolated herself from the world after becoming the seed of tragedy, and who end up saving each other after a journey that they do not give up on.

The drama is based on the webtoon of the same name by Kang Full, the popular webtoonist behind ‘Moving’, ‘The Lighting Store’, and ‘The Fool’. Director Kim Tae-gyun, who displayed his high-density directing skills in the movie ‘Dark Figure of Crime’, is in charge of directing.

Expectations are high for a high-quality work created with the delicate and sensuous interpretation of Director Kim Tae-gyun added to the unique worldview of writer Kang Full.

In the drama, Dong-jin, played by Park Jin-young, is a character who mines necessary information by changing and analyzing data into the desired form.

Dong-jin, who graduated from the Department of Statistics and works to see the truth in big data, will prove that Mi-jung, whom he meets by chance after a long time, is not a ‘witch’, and find factual laws to help her come out into the world.

Mi-jung, who works with Park Jin-young, is played by Noh Jeong-ui. Mi-jung is called a ‘witch’ because she is followed by misfortune and death, and cuts herself off from the world.

In the still cuts released on the 14th ahead of the first broadcast, you can catch a glimpse of Park Jin-young’s perfect transformation into the science-type elite Dong-jin. Even at the time of casting, it already garnered attention for its high synchronization rate with the original webtoon character.

Director Kim Tae-gyun, who was in charge of directing, said, “The stable tone and eyes are very similar to ‘Dong-jin.’ The character’s innocence and sincerity are also reflected in the actor,” and expressed satisfaction with the high character synchronization rate.

The production team also said, “‘The Witch’ is a work that condenses Park Jin-young’s acting skills, which he has demonstrated in various works regardless of genre. He takes on a role that is by no means easy to express, and smoothly moves between a rational side that pursues only the truth and a heartbreaking emotional love that is worth risking his life for.” They added, “Please look forward to how Dong-jin will save Mi-jeong, who is called the ‘Witch,’ and how he will present the Kang-full universe that depicts great love of salvation within a cold and eerie mystery.”
