It depicts the special relationship between teenage girls Lee Hye-ri and Jung Soo-bin.
The STUDIO X+U drama ‘Good Competition’ (directed by Kim Tae-hee, written by Kim Tae-hee and Min Ye-ji), which will be first aired on February 10th, is a mystery girl thriller surrounding Woo Seul-gi, a transfer student to Chaehwa Girls‘ High School, one of the top 1% in Korea, where fierce college entrance exam competition takes place, her friends who reveal their individual desires, and the suspicious death of her father, who was a member of the CSAT committee. Amidst suspenseful incidents, it will delicately portray the jealousy and admiration, friendship and obsession, compassion and excitement of teenage girls addicted to competition.
Above all, the special relationship between Yoo Je-i (played by Lee Hye-ri), a genius in the top 0.1% that everyone admires, and Woo Seul-gi (played by Jung Soo-bin), a transfer student who receives all of her attention, is drawing attention. It makes people curious as to why Yoo Je-yi, the object of his admiration who has everything, approaches Woo Seul-gi, who suddenly transferred to his school, first. Also, in the previously released teaser video, the two were introduced as ‘the number one who can’t even be jealous of’, and ‘the number one who survives to survive’, raising expectations for the competitive relationship they will portray.
On the 14th, the production team of ‘Friendly Competition’ released a launching poster featuring Lee Hye-ri, who plays Yoo Je-yi, and Jung Soo-bin, who plays Woo Seul-gi. In the poster, Lee Hye-ri is leaning her head on Jung Soo-bin‘s shoulder. The composition of the two is arranged vertically, foreshadowing a unique hierarchy or relationship.
First, Lee Hye-ri catches the eye with a subtle smile that seems to be on the borderline between an angel and a devil. Her expression makes one wonder what Yoo Je-yi’s intentions are at the center of their relationship. On the other hand, Jung Soo-bin is wearing a school uniform with one arm dyed red for some reason, and is holding a sharp pencil in one hand. The dark expression and the hand holding the pencil tightly create tension as if it is about to stab someone with the pencil.
The phrase ‘Can you describe our relationship in one word?’ inserted in the center as if dividing the two people in half stimulates curiosity by hinting at the complex emotions entangled between the two characters and the events that will unfold in the future.
‘Friendly Competition’ is scheduled to be released on February 10th through U+ Mobile TV and U+ TV.
