The first still cuts of Noh Jung-eui from Channel A‘s new weekend drama ‘The Witch’ have been released.

‘The Witch’ (directed by Kim Tae-gyun, written by Jo Yoo-jin) is a mystery romance about ‘Dong-jin’, a man who tries to break the laws of misfortune surrounding women called witches, and ‘Mi-jeong’, a woman who has become the seed of tragedy and has cut herself off from the world, and who end up saving each other through a journey that they do not give up on.

The Witch’ is a dramatization of the webtoon of the same name by Kang Full, the popular webtoon writer behind ‘Moving’, ‘Lighting Store’, and ‘Fool’. Director Kim Tae-gyun, who displayed his dense directing skills in the movie ‘Dark Figure of Crime’, took on the directing role. Director Kim Tae-gyun’s delicate and sensuous interpretation combined with writer Kang Full‘s unique worldview is expected to create a highly complete work.

Noh Jung-eui plays the mysterious woman Mi-jeong, who is called a “witch” and has cut herself off from the world. As she confessed in the first teaser video released on the 12th, “Since I was young, many strange things have happened around me,” Mi-jeong is followed by the laws of death and misfortune. This is because all the men who liked her ended up getting hurt or dying. As rumors spread and Mi-jeong was completely branded a “witch,” she hides from the world and goes into seclusion.

The first still cut released today (15th) shows Mi-jeong with a dark and gloomy shadow on her face that should be shining brightly in her youth. Her armed appearance, including her hat pulled down low and all-black clothes, sends a sign telling people not to come near her. Even so, the gaze that longs for the snow fluttering gently seems to represent her desire to come out into the world more earnestly than anyone else.

Director Kim Tae-gyun, who was in charge of directing, said, “A casting meeting with actress Noh Jung-eui was scheduled, and it was as if Mi-jeong was walking toward her. She immersed herself in acting from the test shoot, and not only me, but the entire staff said, ‘It’s Mi-jeong!’ It was that real.”

The production team also said, “Actor Noh Jung-eui’s filmography is not limited to a specific genre. She has a wide acting spectrum. In ‘The Witch,’ she properly expressed Mi-jeong’s complex character, going back and forth between a cool mystery and a heartbreaking story. Her chemistry with actor Park Jin-young, who plays Dong-jin, who tries to break the law of misfortune and death surrounding Mi-jeong, also wonderfully brought out the dramatic fun and emotion. He asked, “Please look forward to it.”

Channel A’s new weekend drama, ‘The Witch’, which is taking over the baton from the hit series ‘Check In Hanyang’, will premiere on Saturday, February 15 at 9:10 p.m., and will meet viewers around the world through simultaneous broadcasting through global investment distribution.
