Actor Jung Sung-il became a hit from the very first appearance.

Jung Sung-il quickly secured his spot as a life character with his outstanding performance in Disney+‘s ‘Trigger’ (directed by Yoo Seon-dong/ written by Kim Ki-ryang), which was first released on the 15th (Wednesday), as well as his acting transformation that did not hesitate to ruin himself.

Disney+’s ‘Trigger’ depicts the story of vicious investigative journalism professionals who, in order to expose the wrongdoings of bad guys in this flowery world, start by sticking their cameras on them.

Jung Sung-il plays Han-do, a mid-level rookie PD who enjoys watching videos of adorable animals, loves ‘only’ animals, and has no social skills whatsoever, no humanity. Han-do is in the drama department. For an unwanted reason, he was dropped into the investigative reporting program ‘Trigger’ team like a parachute, and his inability to blend in with the team like oil and water has raised curiosity.

Han-do was impressive from the outside. He has a messy hair that seems to cover his eyes, he always has a lollipop in his mouth, and he lives with his face completely covered by a gray hoodie as if he doesn‘t want to talk to anyone. Then, in the first scene where he appears carrying a delivery bag, Hando expresses his endlessly free-spirited personality by riding a bicycle and racing down the road without hesitation.

After that, when the mother and child look at him at the crosswalk and make discriminatory remarks, he says, “Mom is bad, the child is active, I’m going out!” and imprints Hando’s character, which is completely unpredictable, on the public, adding to the excitement.

In particular, even before his first day at work, the voluntary outsider Hando experiences a crazy and exciting, spicy social life, such as paragliding and landing on the roof of a building without any plans because of the team leader, So-ryong (played by Kim Hye-soo), who comes in without blinking, and being chased by drugged-out believers and even exposing them. After that, he joined the Trigger team against his will, but when he encountered an animal abuse incident, Hando felt unbearable anger and gradually joined the Trigger team with the desire to catch the culprit, which naturally increased the anticipation for the next episode.

In this way, Jeong Seong-il not only gave viewers a sense of immersion by persuasively portraying the character’s emotions as he sheds the outsider image that had been imprisoning him and the process of him naturally permeating the team, but also enriched the drama by sublimating the character‘s expression, gaze, and emotional changes that were not very noticeable in the beginning of the play with restrained acting.

In addition, it makes you curious about Hando’s past story and how he came to be parachuted into the Trigger team, while also raising anticipation for the future developments as to how Hando, who only knew himself, will change after meeting Oh So-ryong, Kang Ki-ho, and the Trigger team.

In this way, he transforms into the gold of ‘Trigger‘, who cannot be mixed, and shows rawness that has never been seen before. ’Trigger‘, starring Seong-il Jeong, who is currently showing off his acting skills, is released every Wednesday on Disney+.
