Park Bo-young ♥ Choi Woo-shik‘s crazy romance combination is coming... Released on Valentine’s Day

Netflix series ‘Melo Movie’ has confirmed its release on Valentine‘s Day, February 14th (Friday).

‘Melo Movie’ is a romance that depicts a cinematic time where ambiguous youths who want to be in love and achieve their dreams discover each other, become inspirations for each other, and overcome their own traumas. Hitmaker director Oh Choong-hwan, who received much love through dramas such as [Hotel Del Luna], [Diva on an Island], [Start-Up], and [Big Mouth], and writer Lee Na-eun, who presented the essence of youth romance with [That Year, Us], have joined forces.

Choi Woo-shik plays the role of ‘Go Gyeom’, a self-proclaimed film fanatic who started out as a bit part actor and became a critic, and Park Bo-young plays the role of ‘Kim Moo-bi’, a woman who hated movies but became a film director. Lee Joon-young plays ‘Hong Si-jun’, a proud genius but in reality an unknown composer, and Jeon So-ni plays ‘Son Joo-ah’, his ex-lover who returns as a screenwriter, portraying ex-lovers with different emotional speeds.

The teaser poster and teaser trailer for ‘Melo Movie’ that were released this time raise expectations for the birth of a ‘life melodrama’. First, the midnight eye contact between Go Gyeom (Choi Woo-shik) and Kim Moo-bi (Park Bo-young) in the teaser poster that looks like a scene from a melodrama makes your heart race. Go Gyeom’s gaze that makes you smile just by looking at him makes you curious about his feelings for Kim Moo-bi. The phrase, “Will it be a happy ending this time?” added to Kim Moo-bi‘s complicated gaze looking at Go Gyeom makes you even more curious about the story intertwined between the two.

The teaser trailer that was released together contains the fateful first meeting between Go Gyeom and Kim Moo-bi that comes like the law of a melodrama. Go Gyeom, who loves movies, is drawn to him at first sight, perhaps because of his name, “Kim Moo-bi.” Go Gyeom playfully approaches him, saying, “I really like movies. But your name is Movie,” but Kim Moo-bi firmly distances himself by saying, “Can’t you not talk to me?” However, the relationship between the two, who repeatedly met by chance as a supporting actor and an assistant director in a movie, gradually deepens.

Following the kiss that confirmed each other‘s feelings, Kim Moo-bi’s narration, “Kogyeom disappeared like that,” arouses curiosity. Gogyeom suddenly appeared one day, shook her heart, and then suddenly disappeared. And just when Kim Moo-bi tried hard to forget him, Gogyeom interfered in his life again, amplifying his curiosity. Will the melodrama of Gogyeom and Kim Moo-bi, who have a “really” reunion as a critic and a movie director, have a happy ending?

Director Oh Choong-hwan said, “As a director, ‘melodrama’ is a dream genre, but it is also an unknown genre that is still unfamiliar to me and that I have not experienced yet,” and “However, my thoughts changed after reading the script. A good story has the power to make you reflect on yourself, and this work had that power the moment I first encountered it. The excitement and wandering I felt during my childhood and youth were fully expressed,” she said, explaining why she decided to direct.

“‘Melo Movie’ is a story that I wrote with all my heart, growing up with the love I received for my first work,” said writer Lee Na-eun, raising expectations with her sincere answer, “I drew a picture of the reality faced by youth who dream of a life like a movie and the future they will move forward into. Everyone has movie-like romance or hardship in their lives, and I wanted to convey the encouragement and comfort I wanted to convey to myself and the people around me who were at a loss in those moments.”

Netflix’s first romance, ‘Melo Movie’, to be presented in 2025, will be released worldwide through Netflix on Friday, February 14.
