The fifth work of CJ ENM‘s drama project ‘O’PENing(Opening) 2024’, ‘The Son is Dead’ (directed by Na Ji-hyun, written by Lee Soo-jin) is finally unveiled.
‘The Son is Dead’ will air on the 8th on tvN and OCN Movie2 channels. ‘The Son is Dead’ is a work that contains the story of a representative actor of South Korea who inevitably enters a virtual reality and receives the mission of ‘playing the father and protecting the child’, and faces the shocking truth as he gradually comes to love his son with the heart of a real father. The production team pointed out some key points to watch ahead of the broadcast.
● Jang Seung-jo and Lee Seol’s acting synergy
According to the production team, the meeting between Jang Seung-jo and Lee Seol is drawing attention. The two will play the roles of representative actor Kang Tae-hwan of South Korea and Prosecutor Cha, respectively. Prosecutor Cha, who got hold of Kang Tae-hwan‘s weakness due to a suspicious incident, leads Kang Tae-hwan to a virtual reality beta test, and the emotional changes between the two people that change from moment to moment are expected to greatly increase the level of immersion.
● Everyone has imagined ‘Another life in virtual reality’
Virtual reality that everyone has thought about at least once in their lives. What if you entered a virtual reality and lived someone else’s life? Kang Tae-hwan, who has lived an arrogant and self-centered life, lets someone other than himself into his world for the first time in his life through his son Soo-chan (played by Choi Ja-woon and Ko Dong-ha) in the virtual reality. He feels vivid emotions and true fatherly love for his son who does not exist in reality, as if he were alive and breathing. Virtual reality, other people‘s lives, and the resulting repercussions are appealing.
● Will Jang Seung-jo be able to protect his son?
The previously released teaser video and trailer showed Kang Tae-hwan desperately running to protect his son Soo-chan. The scene where Kang Tae-hwan hugs his collapsed son and cries was enough to stimulate the emotions of the viewers.
Meanwhile, the production team also released a still cut of Kang Tae-hwan and his son Soo-chan before the broadcast. Kang Tae-hwan hugs and comforts young Soo-chan, who is shedding tears sadly. His eyes are filled with tears, making us feel sorry.
Next, Soo-chan has grown up in the blink of an eye. At the same time, Kang Tae-hwan’s sharp gaze catching our attention. Indeed, attention is focused on whether Kang Tae-hwan will be able to save Soo-chan in the midst of a meaningful incident.
