Actress Lee Sang-ah looked back on her turbulent life after experiencing three divorces.
In episode 6 of TV CHOSUN‘s observational entertainment program ‘Now I’m Alone’, which aired at 10 p.m. on the 15th (Tuesday), Lee Sang-ah honestly confessed about the aftereffects of divorce and expressed her will to overcome the pain and open a new second act in her life, receiving support from viewers.
Lee Sang-ah got married for the first time at the young age of 26. She recalled, “It was a hasty marriage in order to escape reality and to step forward as an adult actor.” She confessed that she tried to maintain her marriage until the end because she was afraid of her first failure in life, which was ‘divorce’. In the process, even though she accepted all of her first husband‘s demands, Lee Sang-ah recalled the difficult time she went through as a result of the divorce, her eyes reddening.
Lee Sang-ah first married broadcaster Kim Han-seok in 1997, but divorced after a year. She did not hide her anger toward her ex-husband. While she was watching TV with her mother, when her ex-husband appeared as an MC, she said, “I got an offer to be on that program. I asked if K would appear, and since he was an MC, I said, ’Then I won‘t be going.’” Lee Sang-ah‘s mother also chimed in, saying, “He was the kid I hated the most.”
Lee Sang-ah also said, “I sometimes watch (the broadcasts my ex-husband appears on) to see what he’s talking about. On a certain broadcast, they said, ‘Divorce is something you do because you could die,’ and it was really shocking, she added.
Three marriages and three divorces. Lee Sang-ah said that she was mentioning divorce not because she was dwelling on the past, but because she wanted to clear up the misunderstandings surrounding divorce. She shed tears, saying, “I should be the only one hurt, but the people around me are hurt more”, expressing her resentment and anger over the things that not only she but also her family were pointed at and hurt.
However, Lee Sang-ah was able to endure the difficult times because she had a friend who reached out to her instead of pointing fingers. Actor and film director Park Jae-hoon, who boasts a 30-year friendship with Lee Sang-ah, supported Lee Sang-ah‘s second act in life more sincerely than anyone else. “There were painful things in the past, right? From here, I hope you go one more step,” he said, giving Lee Sang-ah sincere comfort and courage, hoping that she would further develop her abilities and dreams as an actress.
Meanwhile, at the end of the video, Choi Dong-seok, who is in the middle of a divorce lawsuit with Park Ji-yoon, visits Jeon No-min to confess his feelings about his current situation and ask for advice. Jeon No-min caught everyone’s attention by saying, “The children are not at fault,” and sincerely suggesting that she should focus on finding a solution for the children rather than being swayed by emotions.
