‘Jeongnyeon’ Kim Tae-ri stands on the crossroads of being kicked out of the Maeran National Theater Company and stands on the stage of the decisive ‘Chunhyangjeon’.

tvN‘s Saturday-Sunday drama ‘Jeongnyeon’ (directed by Jung Ji-in/written by Choi Hyo-bi/planned by Studio Dragon/produced by Studio N, management mmm, and NPIO Entertainment) is a drama that depicts the competition, solidarity, and brilliant growth period surrounding Jeongnyeon, a ‘natural vocal genius’ who challenges to become the best national theater actor after the Korean War in the 1950s.

In the previous two episodes, the main character Jeongnyeon (played by Kim Tae-ri) was forced to obtain the ‘regular performance audition script’ in order to continue her life at the Maeran National Theater Company after falling for the provocation of her fellow trainee Cho-rok (played by Hyun Seung-hee). Even in order to get the audition script for the regular performance, she was given the additional mission of having to play the role of ‘Bangja’ in the research student charity performance ‘Chunhyangjeon’, which will be held in just ten days. As this is the first time Jeongnyeon has ever acted in a national musical, it is bound to be a burden. Attention is being paid to whether she will be able to properly play the main role of ‘Bangja’, get rid of the label of having entered Maeran with Ok-kyung (Jung Eun-chae) on her back, and remain in the Maeran National Music Troupe.

The still cuts revealed among them show Jeongnyeon transformed into Bangja, giving us a sense that the day of the final battle is approaching. Jeongnyeon’s chestnut-like visuals in comical attire, befitting the character of Bangja, are inviting fans. On the other hand, Jeongnyeon‘s solemn expression as she waits for her turn while looking at the stage from backstage is tense, making the viewers’ hearts flutter.

In another still, Jeongnyeon is lying face down on the stage floor and not moving an inch, immediately capturing attention. Jeongnyeon‘s eyes, filled with confusion and anxiety as she lies on the floor and doesn’t know what to do, suggest that something unexpected has happened during the performance. This makes us wonder what happened to Jeongnyeon.

On the other hand, Jeongnyeon, who was previously criticized by Yeong-seo, saying, “How are you going to act as Bangja? Are you going to imitate the Bangja that I acted out?”, plans to struggle to find her own “Bangja” on this day‘s broadcast. Indeed, attention is focused on whether Jeongnyeon will be able to find her own style and soar on the splendid national theater stage.
