Actor Park Sung-woong is properly demonstrating his presence as a villain who is an ‘absolute evil’ in the tvN legendary ‘Secret Forest’, a Tving original drama ‘Good or Bad Dongjae’, a spin-off. He is receiving favorable reviews for demonstrating his power as a ‘master villain’, having previously played impressive villain roles in works such as the movie ‘New World’ and Netflix‘s ‘Hunting Dogs’.
In ‘Good or Bad Dong-jae’, which will be aired on the 7th, he plays the role of Nam Wan-seong, the CEO of a redevelopment construction company, Lee Hong-geol-seol, and he is at odds with the main character Seo Dong-jae (Lee Joon-hyuk), who struggles to clear his past stigma of being a ‘sponsored prosecutor’ and be recognized for his abilities, thereby maximizing the fun of the drama.
Unlike his father who built his business while getting covered in dirt, he firmly believed that he was able to systematically expand his business because he built connections with business cards and wads of cash, and he properly portrayed the viciousness of a character who does not hesitate to engage in any kind of corruption, intimidation, or even contract murder for the sake of business. While showing his fatherly love to somehow clear his son of the murder charges, he also aroused fear in viewers with his vicious appearance as he hurls verbal abuse at his son.
This kind of brutal acting is similar to the villains he has played in many previous works, but because of his son’s crime charges, his relationship with Seo Dong-jae changes several times, and he shows a different ending from his previous villains by going back and forth between being mean and timid.
Park Sung-woong also said, “I‘ve never been timid while doing many noir genre films, but I had to show that side of me at times in this work. I’ve never been timid before, so I had a hard time figuring out what to do.”
Furthermore, Park Sung-woong caught attention by showing comic acting in the KBS2 Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Bullshit’ that was airing at the same time, playing the kind and gentle Lee Ki-dong, who is 180 degrees different from ‘Good or Bad Dong-jae’. The absurd actions of Ki-dong, who has an innocent personality that doesn‘t know where he will go, make viewers sigh, but his lovable charm makes them laugh out loud.
