tvN‘s ‘Iron Girls’ has completed its final sortie preparations through a mock competition.
In the 10th episode of ‘Iron Girls’ that aired on the 9th, Jin Seo-yeon, Yui, Seol In-ah, and Park Joo-hyun, who are about to compete in the long-awaited Tongyeong World Triathlon Cup, got a feel for the real thing with a mock competition that included a 1.5km swim, a 40km cycle, and a 10km run.
Yui, who finished swimming in first place and started cycling, was unable to accelerate as she felt fear of riding on the road. Seol In-ah overtook Yui and took the lead, but unexpected incidents occurred and the brakes were applied. She put the bike chain back on and started again, but the chain came off again and she fell over sideways. Nevertheless, Seol In-ah, who resumed riding with a positive mindset, pedaled tirelessly to make it within the cut-off time, eliciting exclamations.
Jin Seo-yeon, who finished the swim in 1 hour and 18 seconds with a cut-off time of 50 minutes and joined the bike the latest, showed off the power of the ‘Jintobay (Jin Seo-yeon + motorcycle)’ by sprinting at an overwhelming speed to make up for it. She finished the bike in 4th place following Park Joo-hyun, Seol In-ah, and Yui, but her record was only about 2 minutes behind 3rd place Yui, surprising many.
Seol In-ah, who had difficulty continuing the race after falling off the bike, accepted the coaches’ dissuasion and gave up in the middle, while Park Joo-hyun, who was running in 1st place, experienced pelvic pain. After receiving light treatment and enduring the pain, ‘Angry Woman’ Park Joo-hyun took 1st place in the mock competition with a time of 3 hours, 35 minutes, and 2 seconds, impressing everyone with her remarkable growth. Although it was a cut-off time, the experience of finishing the race gave Park Joo-hyun confidence.
Second place in the mock competition went to Yui with a time of 3 hours 44 minutes and 9 seconds. Yui maintained a good pace that was hard to believe was running after swimming and cycling, showing off her athletic ability.
The last runner, Jin Seo-yeon, fueled her fighting spirit with Team Leader Kim Dong-hyun‘s strict therapy and gained further strength from Coach Heo Min-ho, who joined them to run, and crossed the finish line with a time of 4 hours 4 minutes and 8 seconds. The members’ confidence gained through the mock competition and their determination to realize what they were lacking raised expectations for further improvement leading up to the Tongyeong competition.
Above all, the tension-filled scene on the day before the Tongyeong World Triathlon Cup, the ultimate goal of the ‘Iron Girls’, and on the day of the competition itself finally drew attention. The members entered the Tongyeong sea for their first swimming event, and cheered on those who had been running for four months with one goal in mind: to finish the race.
