A teaser video containing actress Jeon So-min‘s absurd new town life has been released.
Ahead of the first broadcast on December 5th, KBS Joy’s new drama ‘Today, Ji Song-i’ (directed by Min Ji-young, written by Jo Yoo-jin, Choi Ryong) has released the first teaser video containing the shocking story of Jeon So-min becoming a fake married woman with a 5-year-old son living in a new town.
‘Today, Ji Song-i’ is a romantic comedy drama that depicts the eventful new town entry of (single) woman Ji Song-i (played by Jeon So-min) who suffers from N-jobs and N-characters in order to pay off her grueling newlywed loan interest after getting engaged overnight and the romance and redevelopment of a promising new town.
The released video begins with Ji Song-yi wearing a helmet with a solemn expression under the strong sunlight. However, in the following scene, Ji Song-yi is riding a bicycle instead of a motorcycle and speeding along, making the viewers burst into laughter.
After Ji Song-yi sighs while checking the piling up text messages, a surprised man‘s voice is heard saying, “Wow! This is the first time I’ve seen a mortgage loan!”, “The loan interest is more than my monthly salary at a cafe!”, hinting at the fact that she is working various part-time jobs, from cafes to working as a delivery rider, in order to pay off her mortgage loan interest.
The reason Ji Song-yi fell into part-time job heaven and loan hell is because she registered her marriage in order to get a newlywed loan, but suddenly got divorced right before the wedding. Ji Song-yi‘s sorrowful appearance as she throws shoes and clothes at her prospective groom who runs away after opening the front door amplifies curiosity about what problems could have existed between them to lead to a divorce.
Like the tagline, “I may not have lived better ‘than’ others, but I thought I would live ‘as much as’ others do, Ji Song-yi becomes single before her wedding and suddenly gives birth to a 5-year-old son. She debuts in Cheonpo New Town as a ‘fake married woman and mother of 5’, but struggles by running and rolling with her face covered by a helmet to avoid being discovered by the new town moms.
At the end of the video, ”Am I the only one who’s weird? Why is this only happening to me!” Ji Song, who lies on the floor and writhes, is drawing attention to the original broadcast to see if she will be able to make a dramatic rebound in her desperate, declining life, where she is digging a basement beneath the floor.
’Today, Ji Song’ is a collaboration between Director Min Ji-young, who displayed her sensational directing skills in ‘Cheongdam International High School’, and Writer Jo Yoo-jin, who wrote the comedy film ‘Pilot’ that hit theaters this summer. It will be first broadcast on KBS Joy at 9 p.m. on Thursday, December 5.
