Channel A‘s new weekend drama ‘Marry You’ is a clean romantic comedy drama without any villains, and it will take charge of the ‘healing’ of viewers.
‘Marry You’, which will be aired for the first time at 7:50 PM on the 16th, is a comic family drama about a couple matching between single and married couples, about the non-marriage-oriented civil servant Jeong Ha-na (Jo Soo-min) who struggles to get the island bachelor Bong Cheol-hee (Lee Yi-kyung) married in order to escape the marriage fraud team.
Director Hwang Kyung-sung said, “This is a drama that deals with marriage and singleness. Other romantic comedies have it all, but ours doesn’t. That‘s the villain. It’s a really clean drama. You can watch it with peace of mind. Since it‘s completely different from the actors’ previous works, you‘ll be amazed and say, ‘Was there something like this?’.”

Lee Yi-kyung, who plays the pure and harmless island bachelor in the drama, is determined to completely erase his villain image from his previous tvN drama ‘Marry My Husband’, where he played a ‘trash husband’.
Having waited for two years to film the drama, he said, “There are a lot of provocative stories these days, so I thought it would be good to have a bright and harmless story. I also took on a provocative character in the meantime. Coincidentally, I started filming this drama right after filming ‘Marry My Husband’ ended. I’m really grateful”.
Lee Yi-kyung, who is actually from Cheongju, Chungcheong Province, plans to show off his comical charm by expressing the Chungcheong dialect that he is familiar with in the drama. He said, “I created the smile that is unique to Bong-cheol, who is not hateful no matter what he does. In fact, my gums had receded before filming and I was about to get dental treatment, but I thought it wouldn‘t be realistic if the island bachelor character had too neat teeth, so I intentionally postponed the treatment,“ he confessed, sharing his passion for the drama.
Jo Soo-min, who plays a civil servant who is a non-marriage advocate and is assigned to the marriage fraud promotion team, said, ”This drama has a healing and warm charm. I appeared on it because I thought it would be able to provide healing to the viewers,“ and asked for anticipation for the pure fun of the drama.
However, in reality, he said, ”I really want to get married,“ pointing out one difference from his character in the drama. Jo Soo-min said, ”My mother and father met when they were 20 and got married when they were 28. I really wanted to get married too,“ and emphasized the message the drama delivers, saying, ”There is a line in the drama that says you need qualifications to get married. While saying that line, I thought that I should get married with more responsibility.“

Koo Jun-hoe and Ji Yi-soo play the roles of Choi Ki-joon, the head of the marriage fraud promotion team, and his long-time friend, Oh In-ah, the successor to a large corporation, respectively, and are responsible for the drama’s other romance. They said, ”There are no villains, and it deals with the messages of marriage and non-marriage in a light way. It‘s also comical and the character relationships are interesting. I think we’ll be able to show many charms through the drama,“ expressing their deep affection for ‘Marry YOU’.
Ahead of the broadcast of ‘Marry YOU’, which is filled with the enthusiasm of the actors, Lee Yi-kyung revealed an unconventional condition, saying, ”If Channel A receives satisfactory viewer ratings, I will pledge to get one of us married.“ He continued, ”Director Hwang Kyung-sung is also single. That‘s why I include the director. You never know what will happen to people, so maybe someone will get married if ‘Marry YOU’ becomes a huge hit,“ he said, causing everyone to burst into laughter.
