Coupang Play entertainment show ‘University War’ Season 2 showed a plot twist that overturned everyone‘s expectations from the first death match, and showed off its prowess by rising to #1 in popularity from the first week of its release.

Coupang Play entertainment show ‘University War’ is a 100% reality brain battle survival show where the top 1% of true geniuses from the most prestigious universities in Korea compete using only their brains. Episode 3 of Season 2, which was released on the 22nd, depicted a fierce death match between the three teams ’Korea University-KAIST-MIT‘ for the survival of just one school.

Korea University, last season’s runner-up and a strong candidate to win, suffered a major upset by failing to identify a suspect in the first death match ‘Signal Investigation 2’. There was also a twist in the second death match, ‘Rock-Paper-Scissors Chess’, held between MIT and KAIST immediately after Korea University‘s elimination. MIT, which had shown great confidence in chess, became the second school to be eliminated after collapsing against KAIST with a genius improvisation strategy.

With this, the remaining matches were structured as a five-way competition, including ‘Seoul National University-Yonsei University-Pohang University of Science and Technology-Oxford’, along with KAIST, which returned full of venom after two fierce death matches.

What awaited the geniuses who went through the death matches was the ‘Pyramid Game’, a benefit match consisting of four games that required calculation, memorization, reasoning, and spatial perception. Seoul National University’s Kim Kyu-min continues to show overwhelming skills, while Oxford‘s Jang Moon-hyeok and Ha-eun, who showed pure passion for intellectual competition by saying, “The opponent is not important” and “I won’t miss out on competing with people who are really good,” continue to garner admiration. Attention is focused on which school will gain the advantage in the next game and the unpredictable developments.

PD Heo Beom-hoon, who has been leading ‘University War’ since Season 1, said, “The competition will be even fiercer than in Season 1,” and added, “Continuing to induce surprise and admiration is the core of our program.
