Kim Ji-eun of ‘Check In Hanyang’ has revealed her thoughts on her first historical drama as a woman disguised as a man.

The new Channel A weekend drama ‘Check In Hanyang’ (written by Park Hyun-jin/directed by Myung Hyun-woo/planned by Channel A/produced by Wemad, Artist Studio, Story Networks/joint production and investment by PONY CANYON), which will be aired for the first time at 9:10 p.m. on the 21st, is a youth romance historical drama that contains the story of the eventful growth of Joseon‘s flower youths who enter ‘Yongcheonru’, the largest inn in Joseon where one can become a king if one pays.

‘Check In Hanyang’ is garnering attention as a youth drama that highlights the golden combination of three men and one woman. In particular, the presence of Kim Ji-eun (as Hong Deok-soo), the only woman who will be active as the ’Haona 4-member group‘ along with Bae In-hyeok (as Lee Eun/Lee Eun-ho, Prince Muyeong), Jeong Geon-ju (as Cheon Jun-hwa), and Park Jae-chan (as Go Soo-ra) stands out. Kim Ji-eun plays Hong Deok-soo, an educational servant who lies about her gender and enters Yongcheonru in order to uncover the secret of her father’s death.

In the midst of this, an interview with Kim Ji-eun herself, revealing the reason she chose the work and the charm of the character, was released on the 15th.

First, Kim Ji-eun introduced ‘Check In Hanyang’ as “the story of Deok-soo, who lives as a man for some reason, and four youths including Deok-soo, set in Yongcheonru, the largest hotel in Joseon,” and explained why she chose the work, saying “it was my first historical drama, and I wanted to participate in the work because the setting of a woman disguised as a man was intriguing.”

In the play, Hong Deok-soo loses her father, lives as a man, and faces numerous adversities, but she is a character who bravely forges her own path even in difficult situations. Kim Ji-eun said, “Deok-soo is a character who doesn‘t show it no matter how hard it is, but overcomes it brightly and courageously,” expressing her affection for the character. “I think that part is really cool.”

When asked about her synchronization with Hong Deok-soo, she gave a humble answer, saying, “I’m also on the courageous side, but I think Deok-soo is braver and more courageous.” However, Kim Ji-eun‘s bright smile that followed caught everyone’s attention, boasting a high synchronization with Hong Deok-soo.

“Check In Hanyang” is a challenging work for Kim Ji-eun in many ways. It is her first historical drama, her first time playing a woman disguised as a man, and other firsts. Regarding this, Kim Ji-eun said, “Through this production, I want to show that ‘Kim Ji-eun can handle various genres’” and “For me, ‘Check In Hanyang’ will remain a new challenge and another form of growth.”

Meanwhile, Channel A‘s new Saturday-Sunday drama ’Check In Hanyang‘, where you can see Kim Ji-eun’s new challenge and transformation, will premiere on Saturday, December 21 at 9:10 PM as the follow-up to ‘Marry YOU’.
