Channel A‘s new Saturday-Sunday drama ‘Check In Hanyang’ Jung Gun-joo explained the appeal of the role of Cheon Jun-hwa that he took on.

Jung Gun-joo took on the role of Cheon Jun-hwa, the sole heir to Joseon’s best inn, Yongcheonru, in Channel A‘s new Saturday-Sunday drama ‘Check In Hanyang’ (written by Park Hyun-jin/directed by Myung Hyun-woo). Cheon Jun-hwa lived like a vagabond but started out as a hotel attendant, learning hotel business from the lowest level. Many people are paying attention to his unique story.

Meanwhile, Jung Gun-joo released an interview with the ‘Check In Hanyang’ production team in which he personally explained the appeal of the drama and the character of Cheon Jun-hwa.

First of all, Jung Gun-joo cited the fun of the script as the reason he decided to appear in ‘Check In Hanyang’. Along with this, he emphasized the charm of Cheon Jun-hwa in the script, adding, “I was attracted to the charm of the character Cheon Jun-hwa.” When asked what kind of character Cheon Jun-hwa is, he explained, “He is a character who, while studying abroad in the Qing Dynasty, receives a warning from his father and enters Yongcheonru as a new servant,” making people curious about Cheon Jun-hwa’s story that will unfold in the drama.

Cheon Jun-hwa, the son of Cheon Bang-ju (played by Kim Eui-sung), the king of money who rules Hanyang and the owner of Yongcheonru, the largest inn in Joseon, is a character who has lived without wanting anything. His unique leisurely attitude, befitting a rich son, is his charming point. Regarding this, Jung Gun-joo said, “Cheon Jun-hwa is a character who has a sly, easygoing, and relaxed personality,” and “I think that‘s similar to me,” revealing the secret to his natural immersion into the character.

However, Cheon Jun-hwa is not simply a leisurely and sly character. After entering Yongcheonru, he will gradually grow while experiencing true friendship through meeting the ‘Haona 4-member group’. Jung Gun-joo said, “I think this is the first time I’ve shown so many different sides of myself in one play”, and “I‘m happy to be able to show so many different sides of myself through this production”. People are looking forward to seeing a new side of Jung Gun-joo who will show his diverse acting spectrum through the character of Cheon Jun-hwa.

Channel A’s new Saturday-Sunday drama ‘Check In Hanyang’ is a youth romance historical drama that contains the story of the eventful growth of Joseon‘s flower youths who enter ‘Yongcheonru’, the largest inn in Joseon where anyone can become a king if they pay money. It will be the follow-up to ‘Marry YOU’, and will be broadcast for the first time on Saturday, December 21 at 9:10 p.m.
