They are now a true ‘Billboard powerhouse’.
The group Tomorrow x Together (TXT) is establishing an unrivaled position on the US Billboard chart, one of the indicators of global pop music popularity. This is the result of securing a thick fandom by attracting the attention of North American fans by putting their strength of ‘storytelling’ to the forefront.
According to a Billboard preview article on the 18th (Korean time), TXT‘s 7th mini-album ‘The Star Chapter: Sanctuary’ (SANCTUARY), released on the 4th, entered the main album chart ‘Billboard 200’ at 2nd place as of the latest date (November 23).
‘Billboard 200’ is ranked by adding up the album sales score, SEA (converting the number of streaming counts into album sales), and the number of digital music downloads (TEA). TXT’s ‘Star Chapter: Sanctuary’ recorded 95,500 album sales this week, 2,500 SEA copies, and a total of 98,000 copies sold.
With this, TXT has placed 6 albums in the top 5 of ‘Billboard 200’. This is the 4th consecutive time they have entered the top 3.
After placing 5th with their 2nd regular album ‘Chaos Chapter: Freeze’ released in May 2021, they went on to top the chart with their 4th mini-album ‘Minisode 2: Thursday‘s Child’ (4th), their 5th mini-album ‘The Name Chapter: Temptation’ (1st), their 3rd regular album ‘The Name Chapter: Free Fall’ (3rd), and their 6th mini-album ‘Minisode 3: Tomorrow’ (3rd) in April of this year.
Billboard especially praised TXT, saying they have “solidified their position as K-pop’s best storytellers”, and predicted that their upward trend will continue. Billboard recently praised the album, saying, “TXT captures the complex emotions of youth with some of the most delicate and challenging music they‘ve ever released.”
They are also solidifying their position as the next-generation ‘K-pop runners’ in Korea. According to Hanteo Chart, a website that compiles album sales, this new album sold 1,579,339 copies in the first week (initial week) after its release, surpassing the initial week sales of their previous album. This is also their fifth consecutive ‘Million-Seller’ achievement.
